Textbook Program Costs and General Information
Maryville University’s mandatory semester fee structure, the One Fee, went into effect for the Fall 2016 semester. Depending upon the type of program in which you are enrolled, the One Fee may be inclusive of textbooks and other course materials.
Please select the type of student you are from the choices below to obtain information specific to your enrollment, and the options available to you with regards to textbooks.
Traditional Day Undergraduate Students & Graduate Students in OT, PT and Speech Language Pathology
For traditional day undergraduate students in ALL programs and graduate students in the Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology programs, the One Fee is inclusive of textbooks and other course materials, which are provided to students in these programs by the first day of class on a rental basis. This provides great benefit to students, as materials no longer need to be obtained or paid for separately, and the cost may be covered by many sources of aid, such as financial aid and scholarships.
The chart below details the portion of the One Fee which represents costs associated with textbooks, course materials and the support systems associated with administering the program. Please consult your billing statement for the rate charged to you, which is dependent upon your current enrollment.
One Fee Rate | Portion Covering Textbook/Course Material Costs |
$450/semester | $150/semester |
$1,200/semester | $350/semester |
Traditional Day Undergraduate Students & Graduate Students in OT, PT and Speech-Language Pathology have two options to further manage their costs.
- Students are provided the option to opt out of the textbook program and receive a partial credit toward the One Fee. Find out more about this option.
- Students who elect to opt out and who are anticipating a financial aid refund may apply for a book voucher, through which book costs may be charged back to the student account. Find out more about this option.
Adult Undergraduate Students & Graduate Students
For adult undergraduate students and graduate students in programs such as business, education, nursing, etc. (all graduate programs other than OT, PT and Speech-Language Pathology), the One Fee excludes textbooks and other course materials. This provides you with the flexibility you need to obtain your course materials at a price which fits your budget and a format which meets your needs.
All required course materials are offered through the University Digital-First Course Materials Program. This program provides you access to digital course materials you would otherwise purchase through the M Store or on a publisher’s website – like textbooks and publisher courseware.
