Student Health and Counseling Services

At Maryville University, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive health and counseling services to support the physical and mental well-being of our students. Our integrated approach ensures that you have access to the care you need to thrive both academically and personally.

Health Services

Student health services include routine check-ups and physical exams, acute care, chronic condition management, immunization and vaccinations, sexual health services and prescription services.

Signs of symptoms of a physical health emergency may include:

  • Chest pain
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • Drug overdose
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizure
  • Serious broken bones (arm, leg)
  • Severe pain
  • Stiff neck associated with a fever of 100 degrees F or higher
  • A negative reaction to drugs or alcohol
  • Someone else is unresponsive or unable to answer basic questions
  • Persistent severe symptoms
  • Sudden inability to see, move or speak

Hours of Operation

  • Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Student Health is located behind the University Library with access from Parking Lot 17.

Counseling and Mental Health Services

Counseling and mental health services include one-on-one sessions with licensed counselors, group counseling, survival circle (a weekly confidential support group for sexual assault survivors), crisis intervention, workshops and seminars and consultation and referral services.

Signs of symptoms of a mental health crisis may include:

  • Having thoughts of harming yourself and may act on them
  • Having thoughts of doing serious harm to others and may act on them
  • Seeing or hearing things no one else sees or hears
  • Have recently been physically or sexually assaulted
  • Use of alcohol, drugs or eating/not eating is out of control
  • Have recently experienced bias, oppression, xenophobia, identity-based discrimination or racial trauma
