We have two main texting campaigns: one for prospective students and one for current and former students.
Prospective Students
When you provide your mobile number in connection with a request for information, you consent to receive communications related to your inquiry. These communications may include:
- Updates on your application status.
- Information about enrollment processes and deadlines.
- Details about our academic programs and courses.
- Invitations to university events and open houses.
- Marketing messages about new programs, promotions, and opportunities that may interest you.
Current and Former Students
As a current or former student, you may receive communications about:
- Updates related to your academic journey, such as class schedules, registration periods, academic advisories, campus safety alerts, financial aid, and billing updates.
- Information about additional programs, certifications, or other educational offerings we believe will interest you.
- Alumni contributions, engagement opportunities, and special events.
- Marketing messages about promotions and opportunities for continued education and professional development.
For prospective students, text messages will be sent from the University’s SMS short code: 84376. For current and former students, messages may come from the University’s short code and one or more 10-digit phone numbers belonging to the University.
2. Consent
By providing your telephone number to Maryville University, you consent to receive communications, including marketing messages, sent by various methods, which may include an automatic dialing system. Communications may be sent by Maryville University or by any party authorized to act on behalf of the University.
If you provide a wireless number, you affirm that you are the subscriber or a regular user of that number with the authority to consent to communications. Further, you agree to notify us if any wireless telephone number you have provided to us changes. You acknowledge and understand that you are not required to provide this consent as a condition of enrollment or using any of our services. Your decision to opt in is completely voluntary and independent of your engagement with our services or academic programs. You may also revoke or modify your consent at any time.
Consent is not required to receive information about the University’s offerings, enroll, or utilize any of the University’s services. 3. Opting Out/Modifying Communication Preferences

- To opt out of all communications, reply “STOP” to any SMS message from us or email itservicedesk@maryville.edu to request a complete opt-out. For email opt outs, be sure to include your name and phone number.
- Reply “HELP” to any SMS message for help.
Please be aware that opting out of certain communications, particularly those related to your academic status, may affect your ability to receive important updates. If you wish to resume receiving communications after opting out, you can modify your preferences at any time.
