Curriculum for the online MHA program

In the MHA online, you will take courses designed around the core competencies for health administration, addressed by organizations such as the National Center on Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

The online MHA curriculum will equip you with the skills to succeed in healthcare management, such as:

  • General business skills like marketing, corporate finance and accounting, cybersecurity, business analytics, computer programming and information systems
  • Business ethics, human resources and advanced management
  • Critical thinking, process improvement and other real-world skills

The online master’s program comprises 10 core courses (27 credits) and your choice of three electives (9 credits). You have a number of options for customizing your 36-credit MHA online. You can select a concentration, or pursue a generalist track to choose your own mix of electives based on your professional interests and career goals.

Early access to the online MHA program

Current Maryville undergraduate students, take note: through Maryville’s Early Access program, you can get a head start earning your master’s in health administration online. You are eligible if you have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and you’ve completed 90 credit hours or more of your bachelor’s degree (at least 20 credit hours at Maryville).

With Early Access, you can earn up to 12 credits toward your master’s degree during the last phase of your undergraduate degree. Early Access allows you to take graduate-level courses that count toward your undergraduate and graduate degrees. These courses are billed at the undergraduate tuition rate, so you can save time and money.

Melynda brings over 20 years of experience in management and health administration to the classroom. Her work as a senior director with large healthcare organizations provides students exposure to a wide variety of strategic and operational real-life scenarios to think creatively and critically to generate solutions.

To be eligible for admission into Maryville’s online MHA, you will need a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university, a minimum 3.0 GPA and an understanding of basic statistics.
