Mullins Joins Board of Diversity Awareness Partnership

Turan Mullins, assistant dean for diversity and inclusion at Maryville University, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Diversity Awareness Partnership.

The Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP) is a non-profit organization that promotes diversity in the St. Louis region, and provides diversity training, consulting, middle school and high school youth programs, and diversity publications.

Maryville University regards diversity and inclusion as core principles of the learning environment, and multicultural understanding as an essential measure of student success. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is actively focused on creating a campus community respectful of all identities, and encourages students to engage in meaningful cultural experiences throughout their Maryville journey.

At Maryville, Mullins previously served as director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and assistant director of Multicultural Programs. He is co-founder of The Consortium of Higher Education Professionals for Inclusion and Equity, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Insight Into Diversity magazine. Mullins is also a Fellow in the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative leadership program, and was recently named a 2016 Focus St. Louis Impact Fellow. He has also served as a Leadership Fellow with the National Association for Campus Activities.

As a Give Respect Get Respect facilitator with DAP, Mullins has worked with high school students to explore topics and issues related to diversity, and facilitated several DAP Listen, Talk, Learn programs. Mullins is also on the executive committee of the Friends of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis, and was recently honored with the 2016 Outstanding Alumni Award from Mathews Dickey Boys and Girls Club.
