Turan Mullins, director of Maryville University’s Office of Diversity & Inclusion, was recently recognized with the Outstanding Alumni Award from Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club in St. Louis.
Mullins was presented with the award during the organization’s 47th Anniversary Awards Banquet, held Feb. 17. Over the years, he has worked with Mathew-Dickey members as a mentor, through college access programs, and as part of community service projects.
“I only played one season of baseball, but I never let that determine my involvement with the Club throughout my life,” Mullins said. “The Club is a safe place that allows kids from all over St. Louis come and become better people. Local legends have walked those halls and played on those fields, so to be selected for this award is a huge honor.”
