Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri, is one of the top three fastest-growing private, nonprofit universities in the U.S., as recognized recently by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
“Our amazing growth is a tribute to our innovative and revolutionary approach to student learning and outcomes,” said President Mark Lombardi, PhD. “Students and alumni, as well as prospective students, recognize the value and high quality of a Maryville University degree.”
Maryville’s enrollment nearly doubled during the decade of Fall 2005 through Fall 2015, the metric period. The growth ranking is featured in the Almanac of Higher Education 2017-18, published by the Chronicle.
This year, Maryville again expects record enrollment: The projected overall student population for Fall 2017 is more than 8,000 students, a 15 percent increase over 2016; and the incoming freshman class is projected at 635 students, a 12 percent rise over last year.
Throughout this extended period of growth, the University has continued to focus on learning outcomes and student success, which has also resulted in an impressive job placement rate of 97 percent for Maryville graduates.
Over the past 10 years, Maryville has pursued a number of overarching initiatives designed to ensure student success and personalize their learning experience. The University has developed Digital World, a program that provides free iPads to students and allows students to tailor their education in a digitally-enhanced learning eco-system; expanded academic and professional programs, both on-ground and online, in high-demand fields such as cyber security and accounting — and developed valuable corporate and community partnerships to ensure those programs meet current market needs; and created a life coach program aimed at helping students understand their individual learning styles and leverage their strengths.
Maryville is also consistently recognized for excellence by Forbes and Kiplinger’s magazines, and has been designated an Apple Distinguished School for its tremendous success in creating an innovative learning environment designed to engage students and support their academic achievement.
