A panel of experts, including Maryville faculty and alumni, will discuss the impact of poverty in our own backyard and area schools, and the link between poverty and educational outcomes. The event is sponsored by Manchester United Methodist Church, and is co-sponsored by the School of Education and Maryville’s Center for Civic Engagement and Democracy.

The panel, “The Opportunity Gap: A Faithful Response to Inequalities Within Our Schools,” will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. (a reception begins at 6:30 p.m.) at Manchester United Methodist Church, 129 Woods Mill Road in Manchester, Mo.

The event is free and open to the community.
