Ann Fick, PT, CCS, associate professor of physical therapy and director of clinical education in the Walker College of Health Professions at Maryville University, has been recognized for her longstanding professional contributions by the Eastern District of the Missouri Physical Therapy Association.

Fick has been honored with the Helen Holzum Whealen Service Award, which recognizes physical therapists who have served the Eastern District and the Missouri Chapter for 20 years or greater, and have contributed to lasting and significant contributions to the profession.

“I was honored to be nominated for the award by very successful peers in the physical therapy community and thrilled to win the award,” said Fick, who was cited for her academic work, service provided professionally at the local, state and national level, and her clinical expertise in the acute care physical therapy environment.

Fick served two terms as the chair of the district, representing 45 percent of Missouri members. During this time, Fick had the opportunity to network with many physical therapy peers, and become more aware of the rewards and challenges her colleagues face.

“This networking and knowledge is crucial in my role as the director of clinical education in Maryville’s physical therapy program,” Fick said.
