Each fall, Saints Nation gathers for a day of outreach called Maryville Reaches Out. Over the last 10 years, Maryville students, faculty and staff have supported hundreds of nonprofits in the St. Louis area. Now, it’s time to reach into our own community.
Maryville Reaches In is a month-long campaign of giving that will benefit the Maryville community and our Saints in need. During the month of February, Maryville Reaches In will raise awareness about an issue on campus and encourage students, faculty and staff to support one another.
“Civic engagement is a core value of Maryville University; we believe all citizens must be actively engaged in strengthening their communities,” said Margaret Onken, vice president for development and alumni relations. “Maryville Reaches In is an important step toward building a culture of philanthropy on campus. It’s about having compassion for others, giving back and applying your time, talent and treasures to what you are most passionate about.”
This year’s inaugural Maryville Reaches In is benefiting the Counseling Center on campus. Since 2016, use of the Counseling Center services has increased by 75 percent.
