Tim Rozar, ’97, had his career trajectory set by a chance encounter with one of Maryville University’s alumni. While his mother was going to physical therapy appointments, she happened to mention to her therapist that her son Tim was looking at colleges; he liked math but wasn’t sure what he wanted to study. The physical therapist, a Maryville graduate, suggested that Tim look into the Actuarial Science program.
Rozar now serves as senior vice president and chief of staff at RGA Reinsurance Company. He was first introduced to RGA as a student—he was hired as an intern during a Maryville career fair. Since then, Rozar has worked with the company in a variety of roles, including global head of research and data analytics and CEO of a startup company within RGA that acted as an innovation accelerator.
Through his alumni role, Rozar enjoys providing insight and advice to current actuarial science students, speaking on classroom panels and offering input into the program. He feels strongly about growing the actuarial science field and dedicates much of his time to furthering the industry through the Society of Actuaries. Rozar has volunteered with the organization, serving on various councils, the board of directors and now as president-elect. One of his goals in this role is to attract new students to the actuarial science profession.
