Global Awareness
No matter where your life takes you, you will need to be able to appreciate the diversity of the human condition and to understand, work, live, and thrive within the global community. At Maryville we value global awareness and provide you many opportunities to experience it on and off campus.
As a Maryville Saint, you will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for you to thrive in the interconnected world of the 21st Century. Whether it is taking courses focused on global issues, joining one of our many international student organizations or attending one of our annual global activities there are lots of ways for you to learn about the world without even leaving campus.
When you are ready to experience another country in person, we can help you with that as well! Our Office of Study Abroad organizes a variety of affordable study programs that range from a few weeks in the summer to whole semesters in length.
If you really want to focus on developing a deep global awareness then you should join our Global Scholars Program. Students in this program participate in an innovate program that travel abroad at least two summers and complete special courses and activities.
All graduating seniors are invited to apply for a Core Value Distinction in Global Awareness to recognize their involvement. Students awarded this distinction receive a special graduation cord to wear at commencement, recognition in the commencement program and a certificate to use in their future endeavors.
