Public Safety Officers

Maryville University of St. Louis is accepting applications for Public Safety Officer positions:

  • Full-time  11p.m. - 7 a.m.  Thursday through Monday
  • Part-time 3 p.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Campus Public Safety Officers perform duties related to traditional campus security, safety and law enforcement, including completing rounds of the campus; observing correcting and/or reporting safety-related hazards and violations; enforcing moving and non-moving violations; locking and unlocking buildings according to schedule and by request; issuing photo identification cards and parking permits; controlling the movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic on campus; providing assistance to disabled motorists when possible; investigating acts of theft, vandalism and other criminal activities to insure there is no threat to people or property; inspect fire extinguishers, Blue Light phones, emergency lights; escort faculty, staff and students to vehicles or other buildings on campus when requested; issue school vans after hours; complete daily logs and written reports; other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; good communication skills; ability to think and act independently; ability and willingness to apply for, receive and maintain a Security Officer License issued by St. Louis County Police Department - Private Security Section; ability to complete certification for OC Spray and the ASP baton; no criminal convictions; valid driver's license; must pass CPR and standard adult first aid training.

Public Safety Officers subject to background testing and drug screening at time of employment; subject to drug and alcohol screening on a random basis.
