FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

Maryville University of Saint Louis invites applications from candidates strongly committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the university and community.  We are especially interested in candidates committed to interdisciplinary education, collaboration between the liberal arts and professional programs, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Maryville University is a selective, private, coeducational institution with over 2,500 undergraduate and 500 graduate students.  Committed to excellence in the integration of liberal and professional learning.  Maryville offers an outstanding liberal arts curriculum and challenging professional programs in education, business, health professions, art and design, and actuarial science. Founded in 1872, the university is ideally situated on 130 picturesque acres in west St. Louis County.

School of Liberal Arts and Professional Programs

Legal Studies (two positions, Assistant Professor) Position 1: teach legal and paralegal courses; coordinate an ABA-approved Paralegal program.  Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree and experience as a practicing attorney working with paralegals.  Prefer: a broad interdisciplinary background, evidence of scholarly potential, and demonstrated teaching and administrative ability. Position 2: teach paralegal and legal studies courses within a broad interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum.  Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree and a doctorate in a related liberal arts discipline (master's will be considered), such as psychology, political science, or criminology.  Prefer: a strong liberal arts background, evidence of scholarly potential, and interest and expertise in interdisciplinary curriculum development.  Tenured or non-tenure track, depending on qualifications.

Communication
(Assistant Professor) Applicants for this 9-month tenure track position should hold a Ph.D. in Communication or related field (ABDs near completion will be considered).  Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in advertising, and ability to teach marketing, demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarly potential, and a commitment to the integration of liberal and professional education.

Psychology (Assistant Professor) Applicants for this 9-month tenure track position in the Department of Psychology should have a Ph.D. in psychology and be able to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, including social psychology, research methods, and statistics.  Must demonstrate potential for scholarship, commitment to teaching excellence, a capacity to work collaboratively with faculty in other academic areas, and an interest in curriculum and program development.

Art History (Assistant Professor)  Applicants for this 9-month tenure track position should have an earned doctorate in Art History with a western emphasis. Coursework in a non-Western culture and modern and contemporary art required.  Prefer: demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, ongoing scholarly and creative activity, familiarity with digital media, and an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary educational environment.  This position will support programs within a well-established and highly regarded Art and Design Department, as well as the University's liberal arts curriculum.

School of Education

Educational Leadership (Assistant Professor) Collaborate and teach in doctoral program in education leadership, coordinate certification for prospective principals and superintendents, participate in activities related to the National Network for Educational Renewal, and teach in preservice teacher education program.  Ph.D./Ed.D., P-12 public school teaching, building level and central office experience.
