Marty Parkes

Associate Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations

Marty Parkes oversees all marketing and community relations efforts and the University's website.

Previously, Parkes served 16 years with the United States Golf Association (USGA), including 11 years as its senior director of communications. He dealt with all USGA communication issues and served as a chief Association spokesperson before local, regional and national audiences. Parkes also managed a $26 million annual budget while helping raise USGA membership to record levels.

Parkes is the author of two books: Classic Shots, published in 2007 by National Geographic Society, and Up on the Hill, published in 1996.

Laura Smith

Laura Smith Josehart

Director of Marketing and Community Relations

Laura joined Maryville University as assistant director of marketing and community relations in March 2006 and began serving as interim director in April 2008. She was named director in January 2009.

Prior to coming to Maryville, she was director of print production for Vanderbilt University, where she oversaw the design and production of printed material for the Office of Alumni and Development.  For 10 years, she managed print and mail production for clients through a graphic design partnership she founded and managed. Most recently, she handled mail projects through a direct mail firm in St. Louis.

Laura earned a Master of Arts degree in English from Binghamton University in New York and a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in English from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Janet Edwards

Primarily serving as staff writer for marketing and community relations at Maryville University, Janet Edwards is dedicated to sharing the many wonderful and inspiring stories about people, programs and events in the Maryville community.

Ronnie Gaubatz

Web Manager

With more than 12 years experience in planning, developing and marketing turn-key online solutions for medium to large businesses, Gaubatz brings a wealth of knowledge to her position as manager of web services at Maryville University. Gaubatz served as the director of web development at Build-A-Bear Workshop where, under her direction, the web development team won numerous awards, including The Web Marketing Association - Outstanding Website award, six BizRate Circle of Excellence awards, a Bronze Quill award and five St. Louis Business Journal E-commerce awards. Gaubatz also brings to Maryville her expertise in user interface design, rich media, interactive media, social media, online community, email marketing and search engine optimization.

Eric Juden

Web Application Developer

Eric Juden serves as web application developer at Maryville University. He joined the marketing and community relations team in September 2007, following a successful tenure as an auditor and software developer with Executive Personal Computers in St. Charles, Mo.

A native of St. Charles, Juden has studied computer technology at Hickey College, Webster University and St. Charles Community College.

Katrina McAfee

Web Developer

Katrina McAfee has worked in the web technology area at Maryville University since 2002. Starting as a freelance web designer, McAfee now serves the University as web developer and has been responsible for the creation, development and implementation of the web pages on Maryville's website.

A graduate of St. Louis Community College at Meramec, and with additional academic accomplishments at Webster University, McAfee has strong graphic design and web development skills that are used to enhance Maryville's electronic medium, primarily the website.

Prior coming to Maryville University, McAfee was the web-based training developer for The Boeing Company, a position she held from 2000-2002. She has also designed web pages for Maritz Learning.
